Griffith Observatory

Saturday, 18 November 2012

Me, Kevin and Lex went to the Griffith Observatory. The place is perched at the top of Griffith Park and has an array of space-related displays.

The view there was incredible. Here are some pictures.

We explored the grounds and also took a look at their exhibits about space. We also went for a show at the Samuel Oschin Planetarium called "Centered in The Universe".
The show talks about space and the universe.

We were seated facing upwards towards the dome, where the projections are seen.
It made use of a Zeiss Universarium star projector and an innovative laser video projection system to create an immersive experience.

It was a really cool and immersive show. I wouldn't mind going to it again.
Besides that it was more of exhibits.

I have always been curious of space and I have always loved science fiction. So it was a very enjoyable and informative time at the observatory.

Towards the end of the day though, it rained heavily (heavy in California standards) and that made for some really cool photo opportunities.

All in all, it was a good time.
That is all.

  1. Did you have the opportunity to see their telescope? It's amazing! Great photos of Los Angeles -- it does, indeed, rain here on occasion. We try to be efficient and just pour all the rain on the city at once. We aren't one of those light showers-throughout-the-year city by any means.

Remember to post a timeline showing your daily plans for today through December 6.

  2. Unfortunately, it was raining so access to the telescope was not allowed.

I will post a timeline and another update soon.
